Hoyer says 2012, and the medium term future, will be a “challenging period” as the bulk liquid giant reported a 6.8% fall in pre-tax profit to £3.5m for the year ending 31 December 2011 (2010: £3.8m). Turnover for the period also fell, by 3% to £133m (2010: £137.7m) according to results filed at Companies House. Trailer hire specialist Hireco has launched a novel way of selling its ex-rental trailers – an eBay-style auction website. Buyers will be able to log in, browse the trailers for sale and make bids, receiving email notifications if they have been outbid before the auction ends.
The United Road Transport Union (URTU) men at the centre of a probe into Driver CPC training activities have had their bail extended yet again. The seven men include general secretary Bob Monks, national officer Mel Thornton and regional officers Lee Pimbley and Mike Billingham.
