Truck trailer lighting firm Aspöck UK has received an inaugural King’s Award for Enterprise in the innovation category after developing the first radar-based reversing aid for commercial vehicles with automatic brake function.
The brainchild of engineer Lee Rush and head of sales Mark Toghill, the Aspöck RADC has been in development since 2017.
The company said that not only does it detect obstructions, but it also reduces levels of impact due to the “smooth and steady” application of the brakes.
MD Rush said: “We are immensely proud that the RADC has been recognised under the King’s Awards.
“Aspöck has been leading the way in commercial vehicle lighting in the UK for many years, and we are very excited that we have now been able to apply the talents and knowledge of our employees to help improve safety in other areas of the industry.”
