AIT Home Delivery has opened a depot in Enfield to meet growing e-commerce demand and reduce stem mileage.

The company said it would invest £25m over the next decade in the 91,000 sq ft facility, which is sited close to the A10 and M25 and is 18 miles from the City of London.

It said e-commerce in the UK was expanding at pace with forecast annual growth of 7.01% through to 2029.

The UK remains the world’s third largest e-commerce market, behind China and the United States, with sales increasing by nearly 30% between 2024 and 2025.

Gary McKelvey, VP global home delivery at AIT, said: “The opening of our Enfield depot is a key milestone in aligning our network with market demand. As e-commerce continues to grow, so too do expectations around speed, flexibility and reliability.

“By investing in a strategically located facility, we are not only increasing our capacity in London but also reducing mileage and improving delivery efficiency – ensuring we continue to provide a premium, reliable two-person delivery service that retailers and consumers can depend on.”
