Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) has had its contract with aircraft manufacturer Airbus extended until 2016.

The contract covers the management of Airbus’ entire production logistics in the UK, as well as in France, Germany and Spain. It will also cover distribution to China.

K+N will be responsible for goods receipt, quality inspection, pick and pack, and storage. It will also operate a new hub in Toulouse on Airbus’s behalf, which is due to open this year.

The operator has held its contract with Airbus since 2008, covering all of its European production logistics activities.

Robert Berganus, K+N’s senior vice president contract logistics, said: “The business partnership between Kuehne + Nagel and Airbus demonstrates how added value for both parties can be generated by focusing on core competencies, customer needs and first class services with the commitment to ongoing optimisation and innovation.”
