Glasgow-based heavy plant and equipment hire specialist AB2K has upgraded its fleet with four new Scania G450 XT Cheesewedge plant bodies supplied by MV Commercial.
AB2K is a contractor in the civil engineering, ports, quarrying, rail and energy sectors. The new trucks, three of which are fitted with a Palfinger PK 53002 SH crane, will be used across the company’s varied operations, including civil and rail plant hire throughout Scotland.
AB2K director John Murphy said: “We have a great relationship with MV Commercial which has spanned over a 10-year period. We know that they can provide us with some of the highest-spec crane vehicles when we need them, and their knowledge within the industry is second to none.”
Each vehicle is built with railway tracks incorporated in the floor of the body allowing rail bogies to be craned straight on, reducing the possibility of any damage during transportation.
The trucks are also specified with 13.4 tonne drop-in lashing points, extra chain baskets and a full fall arrest system around the bed of the vehicle to protect the operator.
AB2K, which is part of the Quattro Group, can also use MV Commercial’s nationwide support network, which has more than 70 service locations across the UK and Ireland.
Murphy added: “An added bonus of dealing with MV Commercial is the aftersales support which is the best we’ve come across. We need a company that offers us a year-round backup service that is available 24/7. And, in the event of an emergency MV Commercial offers us access to specialist replacement vehicles at very short notice.
“In addition, the repair and maintenance package means that we can budget the costs upfront and we don’t have any surprises down the line.”
