John Petch Transport said it had increased its profitability by 10% after it introduced fleet management software that provided the North Yorkshire firm with better insights into critical events.
The company said it rolled out Bridgestone’s Webfleet solution with Mantis cameras across its 25-strong fleet of HGVs and the technology provided high definition dashcam footage displayed alongside data such as speed and location.
Dave Petch, co-founder of the haulier, said: “Because we can now use this indisputable evidence to protect our drivers against false or incorrect claims, we’ve seen a five per cent reduction in both our claims costs and fleet insurance premium.
“The cameras have paid for themselves.”
In addition, the company said better truck route planning and more accurate timesheet reporting had reduced overtime claims and saved the company more than £5,000 a year.
Active driver feedback had also helped cut incidents of speeding and harsh braking, as well as reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
“The combined camera and telematics solution has helped us to modernise the way we work and has had a dramatic impact on our efficiency,” Petch added.
