In a statement it said: “CNH Industrial is constantly reviewing its production schedules in response to this highly dynamic environment and plans to shut the concerned plants for no longer than eight working days in the month of October.

“The company remains committed to optimising its manufacturing operations to meet continued strong demand and best serve its dealers and customers.”
Manufacturers around the world are struggling with a shortage of semiconductor chips amid a rise in demand.
Prior to the pandemic, pressure on the industry was intensified due to the rise of 5G and the decision by the US to prevent the sale of semiconductors to Huawei.
Iveco said it wouldn’t comment further on temporary plant closures.
