Hireco has won a deal with Owens Group to provide 22 new SDC curtainsider trailers after impressing the Welsh operator with its ability to provide them quickly and at a competitive price.
The trailers, which have a specified internal loading height of 3.1 metres, will be used to help Owens Group meet demand during the peak period.
The company, which specialises in transport, parcel delivery and warehousing, operates a fleet of over 500 trucks and 850 trailers from depots in Llanelli, Port Talbot, Bridgend, Newport, Droitwich, Wrexham and Manchester.
Customers include Nestle, Sofidel, Wepa, Envases, Amazon, InBev and Tata Steel.
Andy Williams, Owens Group fleet manager, said that while the company had used Hireco previously for ad hoc trailer hire, this was its first lease of vehicles with Hireco.
He added: “Hireco had the latest specification trailers with focus on safety in operation and could supply at the right price.

“We also felt Hireco shared the commitment to service excellence which underpins everything we do as an independent, family-owned and run business.”
Andy Graham, Hireco sales manager, who negotiated the contract, said he had felt what was important to Owens Group was flexibility in being able to supply curtainsider trailers quickly, to the right specification and at the right price.
He added: “It is a fantastic piece of business for Hireco and we look forward to growing our relationship further with Owens Group.”
Hireco, which specialises in commercial leasing and providing finance packages for its customers, operates more than 7,000 assets around the UK and Ireland.
The company claims to be the biggest buyer of new fleet vehicles in the UK, a position which it says it has held for the last five years.
Its customers range from smaller owner operator businesses to major multinational 3PLs.
