Aggregates operator CEMEX is trialling new AI-driven camera technology on its fleet designed by Exeros Technologies.
The ADAS and SkEye view camera systems enable a complete 3D ‘virtual visibility’ of the vehicle from a top-down view eliminating blind spots and providing assistance when the mixers are on the move.
CEMEX has partnered with Exeros since 2017 and already kits out its fleet of mixers with safety systems including TrackEye CCTV recording capability.
This captures footage from all angles in the event of an incident, which can help combat false claims and provide evidence for post-collision analysis and training.
The cameras are connected to an in-cab screen that automatically displays blind spots when manoeuvring to enhance the safety of each vehicle. Nearside proximity sensors detect the presence of any cyclists and alert the driver while a left-turn alarm emits an audible warning to anyone on the near side.
“The system has the ability to offer GPS tracking of the fleet along with remote dial-in to download camera footage in the event of a serious road traffic collision,” said Charlie Sandford, CEMEX national fleet liaison manager for ready-mix national operations.
“In addition, we liked the drive of Exeros to enhance the system with the new technology to aid drivers in the detection of hazards and people around their vehicles in urban environments.”
Exeros will be bringing its range of systems along to this year’s Freight in the City Expo at Alexandra Palace, London on 6 November. The event is free to attend, so why not book your free place today!
