Transport for London’s Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (Fors) now has more than 1,300 registered members.
Fors, which was launched in April 2008, is a free to join initiative aimed at improving fleet and vehicle operational efficiency.
Total Fors registrations (awaiting accreditation) as of the 26 June, stood at 1,333. Of this, 872 companies had achieved bronze status, 52 silver and 12 the top gold status. There are 96,293 accredited vehicles within Fors.
Fors membership is now mandatory for all new TfL contracts, and due to be applied retrospectively too, alongside additional training and vehicle safety equipment.
Third parties have also begun to mandate it with construction company Mace recently requesting that all of its sub contractors join the scheme.
The FTA carries out Fors assessments for TfL under contract, but there are now several other organisations that have certification body status including aggregates firm Lafarge Tarmac.
