Cleveland Police is undertaking a “complex financial investigation” at an HGV training company that collapsed into administration earlier this month.

Cleveland LGV Training appointed administrators on 14 February, a couple of weeks after it closed down the haulage side of the business.

FRP Advisory said it had managed to save nine jobs by organising a pre-packaged sale of the training company and its assets to Tees Valley Driver Training.

It said that the administration was brought about by “cashflow issues” and joint administrator Martyn Pullin added: “By selling the training business as a going concern we’ve been able to save jobs and minimise disruption to customers.”

The training firm had only been running for two years and its haulage arm held a standard international licence for 25 lorries and 20 trailers.

Meanwhile, police continue to investigate a complaint of theft by an employee of Cleveland LGV Training, made in late 2017.

A Cleveland police spokeswoman said: “This is a complex financial investigation. Enquiries will therefore be on going for several months.”

It was unable to provide further details.

Tees Valley Driver Training did not respond.
