Nearly three-quarters of fleet operators (72%) would exit a contract if urban regulations became too costly to absorb, according to new research revealed in the ‘Asset Alliance Group Industry Monitor 2021’

This figure is up from 57% answering the same survey in 2019, perhaps reflecting the increasing burden that expanding city rules are having on operators.

The past few years has seen a raft of city-centric legislation emerging, driven by a desire to make urban areas cleaner, safer environments for those who live and work there.

These include clean air zones now emerging in major cities UK-wide, in addition to London-specific rules such as the Direct Vision Standard.

Free to download, the ‘Asset Alliance Group Industry Monitor 2021’ comprises a robust 625-strong respondent base.

It was compiled in partnership with Motor Transport and Commercial Motor, and asks operators about a range of key issues impacting their businesses today, from the latest alternative fuelled trucks and fleet buying trends, through to the national driver shortage and truck crime.
