Europa has opened its £60m warehouse in Corby on time, in spite of “a huge number of obstacles” created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
And the logistics operator said it had already won a new contract, helping the facility to reach capacity.
Located on a 25-acre site at Midlands Logistics Park, the ground floor alone is equivalent to seven premier league football pitches, with 715,000sq ft dedicated to logistics and 100,000 pallet spaces.
Europa Warehouse said the project had remained on track even though the current pandemic brought with it changes to regulations, working practices and government guidelines on social distancing.
Andrew Baxter, Europa Worldwide Group MD said: “Despite the lockdown with all of its associated challenges every single department at Europa has worked tirelessly to open our new site.
“From the recruitment team hiring a brand-new team of 120, staff training, to designing and procuring IT and all of the operations.”
He added: “Well done to everyone for their spectacular achievements and efforts on this project.”
