Sales of electric vans rose to 3,204 in 2019 according to the SMMT, but that is still just 1% of the total light van market last year.
The top five electric vans were the Nissan NV200, Renault Kangoo and Kangoo Maxi, Peugeot Partner and LDV V80.
The overall light van market under 3.5 tonnes GVW grew 2.4% to 311,103 last year while sales of heavy vans between 3.5 tonnes and 6 tonnes fell slightly to 8,695.
The Ford Transit and Ford Transit Custom are still market leaders followed by the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the Volkswagen Transporter and the Vauxhall Vivaro.
