Delivery firm DX Group has opened a new security control room as part of a £10m expansion programme.

The group, which returned to profitability last year, is also planning to open six new depots this year - three for DX Freight and three for DX Express.

The security control room, at Tipton in the West Midlands, centralises the monitoring of CCTV, alarms and access controls across all of DX’s sites to increase the security of the group’s entire network.

The facility also provides live monitoring of health and safety and operational compliance protocols, aimed at increasing the efficiency and safety of its depots.

This is the latest step in the group’s £10m investment programme which aims to improve group efficiency and capacity across both DX Express and DX Freight divisions.

DX’s transportation services include overnight delivery services, the transportation of confidential documents and delivery of large, awkward-to-handle freight that is unsuitable for standard conveyors.

Around £6m of investment in the group’s technology, equipment, sites and fleet is scheduled for 2021, which will include the opening of the six depots.

DX Group declined to reveal where it plans to open the depots.

Lloyd Dunn, chief executive at DX Group, said: “I am pleased that we have upgraded and centralised our security operations with the opening of this new facility.

“This is just the latest example of our commitment to investing in DX in order to support our ambitious growth plans for the business whilst maintaining our high standards for service and security.”
