DPD#1

DPD has renewed its contract with online fashion retailer ASOS in a new multi-million pound, five-year deal.

It means the parcels firm, which won two awards at this year’s MT Awards, will supply delivery services to ASOS customers across the UK until at least September 2024.

DPD has worked with ASOS for more than a decade and it said services such as its delivery and tracking options were trialled first with the retailer.

The new contract includes a provision for at least 50% of deliveries within the London Ultra Low Emission Zone to be served by electric vehicles only.

DPD expects to have almost 600 electric vehicles on the road by 2021.

Dwain McDonald, DPD CEO said the next five years would see deliveries transformed with greener, more sustainable deliveries, more geo-location innovation and Brexit: “We’re ahead of the game on all three fronts,” he added. “But the investment in our all-electric fleet and depot network is key for us.

“We expect to have the largest EV fleet in the industry and plan to double the number of electric vehicles year on year.”
