DHL Express has revealed that it intends to sell its same-day domestic business to technology distributor Rico Logistics later this month, as it continues to focus on the international express market.
The firm, which sold its B2C domestic business to form Yodel in 2010, said it has agreed to sell its same-day domestic activities to the £59m a year turnover Rico Logistics on 31 October.
DHL said it will continue to offer same day international services, as well as time definite domestic and day definite services, which will remain unaffected by the sale.
DHL Express and Rico Logistics were both unavailable to comment on how much of their business activities are derived from same-day deliveries, but customer information available on DHL’s website said Rico is “well-established in the field of same-day logistics” and is an “ideal match for the business-to-business strengths and service DHL has provided”.
Rico Logistics was acquired by TVS Supply Chain Solutions last year, and operates a same-day delivery service from its 35 warehouses across the UK.
DHL said that it will be “business as usual” for its same-day domestic customers, who will receive details to any changes before the business is sold later this month.
