DHL Express has opened its new 150,000ft2 UK headquarters and southern hub near Heathrow airport, which is home to approximately 750 employees.
“Our new southern hub ensures we meet our customers' needs long into the future,” said DHL Express UK chief executive Ian Wilson. “It also offers an excellent working environment and brings together multiple areas of our business, creating one working environment – something that’s important to DHL,” he added.
The £56.1m hub improves DHL’s capacity to 28,000 parcels an hour, a fourfold improvement on its previous site. The site has an O-licence for 100 vehicles and 100 trailers.
DHL Express Europe chief executive John Pearson said: “The UK operation is a key component of the global DHL business. The new hub will play a crucial role in enabling DHL Express UK to continue to support the thriving British export and import market. This facility forms part of our wider investment programme, which will ensure DHL’s network remains industry leading and develops in line with customer demand.”
