Cheshire-based Boughey Distribution has appointed Alex Hall (pictured) as its new finance director.
He joins from GXO Logistics and takes over following the retirement of Ian Sherratt who has held the post for the last 10 years.
Hall will lead the company’s finance team responsible for financial planning and analysis and accounting activities, as well as supporting the business to deliver positive financial results. He will also report on Boughey’s financial performance to its owner, NWF Group.
Hall began his career with Wincanton as an assistant accountant in its foodservice business before progressing to the role of finance manager, supporting a number of the company’s largest contracts.
Following 10 years with Wincanton, he moved to XPO Logistics, initially as a finance business partner before becoming head of finance of a UK business unit. He went on to hold this position for two other XPO units before moving to GXO Logistics as part of the company’s spin-off from XPO in 2021.

Alex is a CIMA qualified accountant and is currently studying for an Executive MBA at the University of Manchester’s Alliance Business School.
Away from work, he is a Wigan Athletic fan and part of three generations of season ticket holders along with his young son and father.
