Boughey Distribution has updated its fleet with 50 new curtainsiders from Tiger Trailers, replacing older assets and increasing Tiger’s share of the fleet to more than 75%.
The delivery comprises 35 4.2m and 15 4.5m tall clearspan tri-axle trailers, with the taller assets being used to support specific contracts requiring double-stacked loads.
Boughey, which reported a solid year of growth in the summer, was one of Tiger’s launch customers and took curtainsiders from it in early 2015.
Paul Brimelow, group fleet engineer at Boughey Distribution, said: “We were one of Tiger’s very first customers, and the fact we are gradually replacing the entire fleet speaks volumes.
“We know what Tiger is capable of in terms of quality and customer care. They do everything they can to support us, and if we ever have an issue, they work to address it immediately – you can’t put a price on what that’s worth.”
The new trailers have been built to Boughey’s specification, which includes 13 pairs of load restraints and rear bunching straps fitted at the rear corner pillars. The design includes snap hooks and rings on the inside, for ease of use.
The new additions to the fleet have been supplied on an eight-year lease direct from Tiger Trailers, and are each mounted with BPW axles, Knorr Bremse braking system and specified on the customer’s preferred Michelin tyre policy.
