Yodel has entered into a trial delivering parcels to secure lockers in Northern Ireland, which it said will help towards achieving carbon neutrality.

Run in partnership with bill paying service PayPoint, Yodel will deliver goods to nine locations offering 24/7 contactless self-service parcel lockers from OOHPod.

Yodel said the six-month trial is part of its ambition to grow its out of home offering and would help it reduce its carbon footprint.

OOHPod currently operates parcel lockers across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, with 300 additional locations planned by the end of 2024.

Liam Rogan, out of home director at Yodel, said: “In recent years we have seen consumers demanding more convenient parcel deliveries. The trial also enables us to provide a more sustainable service.

“By delivering parcels to a single location in an area we can reduce total mileage across our network as we look to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.”
