FairFuelUK (FFUK) founder Peter Carroll has taken up a new role as special adviser to chief secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander.
FFUK will continue to fight for a fairer deal on fuel with Howard Cox, former FFUK head of communications, at the helm, supported by Lynne Beaumont.
Commenting on the past two and half years spearheading FFUK, Carroll said: “It’s been a rewarding experience and I’ve been happy to have been of service to the industry. I wish my colleagues who are keeping on with the campaign all the luck in the world.”
Kate Gibbs, head of communications at the RHA, said: “It’s great news to know that there is someone in the heart of government who, as an ex-haulier, can speak with authority from an industry perspective. He’s been there and knows what we’re up against.”
James Hookham, MD of policy and communications at the FTA, said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for Peter. To have someone who is as knowledgeable as Peter about logistics and the transport sector in this position must be of help to us as an industry, but obviously Peter will be advising Danny
Alexander on all matters, not just fuel-related.”
Carroll picked up the Service to Industry title at this year's Motor Transport Awards.
