Suttons Tankers has landed a major five-year contract with BOC to provide inter-branch trunking services for the movements of full and empty gas cylinders across the UK.
This latest deal builds on Sutton’s 10-year partnership with BOC delivering propellant gas and pentanes contracts, which has also been extended.
The BOC gas cylinder contract, which is due to go live in April 2021, will see 80% of deliveries carried out by Suttons' dedicated fleet with 20% provided by its wider network.
Suttons said this arrangement will allow BOC to use additional trained drivers without over committing on core fleet, giving BOC greater flexibility and lower costs.

The tanker firm said the ability to maximise its core fleet while still providing the capability to flex, in line with demand, was a key factor to it winning the contract, as well as its proven safety record.
As part of the deal, Suttons will also invest in 30 new trucks and will use its nationwide network of depots to assign each BOC site to a Suttons parent site.
Suttons MD Michael Cundy said: “We are delighted to announce this major contract win with BOC which is directly aligned to our growth strategy in the gas sector.
“We were able to be commercially competitive while providing BOC with a compelling solution that met their requirements and was completely bespoke to their operation.
“This new business win also secures an extension on our other contracts with BOC, which is a credit to the Suttons employees who have been working on the propellant gas and pentanes contracts.”
