Suttons Group subsidiary Suttons International has completed the asset purchase of the overseas ISO tank containers, personnel and customer contracts belonging to German company VTG Tanktainer, a subsidiary of VTG Aktiengesellschaft.
The acquisition elevates Suttons Group into the list of the top ten global tank container operators and opens up new markets including South America.
John Sutton, MD of Suttons International Limited and chief executive of Suttons Group, said: “This is a major step in our strategy to grow our international operations, and to improve the value we offer to our customers through improved scale, increased flexibility and additional geographic coverage.”

Suttons Group said that in order to integrate the two operations it has carried out joint customer visits, updated agency agreements, transferred all relevant assets, had discussions with suppliers, as well as implementing IT systems and training for the team. Relevant VTG staff have also been transferred to Suttons International.
The company added that as logistics planning is now using the larger network, existing and new Suttons customers will start to see the benefits immediately.
John Sutton added: “We are delighted to welcome our new colleagues transferring across from VTG. In fact, because of the scale of the new business, we are already recruiting additional positions to join us.
“That is all part of our commitment to growing Suttons International and providing our customers with an exemplary service.”
