Essex-based freight forwarder and haulier Simarco has revealed that its turnover rose by 10.5% to £26.5m in its most recent financial year.
While official figures are yet to be filed at Companies House - Simarco International finished the financial year ending 31 March 2013 with a turnover of £24.1m and a pre-tax profit of £853,616 – the company said that much of additional business had been generated in the last six months as retail, automotive and manufacturing firms all increased exports.
MD Simon Reed said: “The rapid rate at which export volumes rose during the latter half of the year contrasts with the first six months of 2013, when the emphasis was strongly on supporting and retaining clients,” he said.
“Given that our business is, to a degree, dependent on the health of the economy, the fact that we are seeing a definite upturn in trade suggests that the attitude of British business is more positive than this time last year, particularly among those companies selling into foreign markets.”
The Palletforce member was granted authorised economic operator (AEO) status last year.
