Renault Trucks is supplying national waste recycling specialist Recycling Lives with two fully electric 18-tonne D Wide Z.E skip loaders, servicing commercial and household clients.
The EVs will join Recycling Lives’ skip handling fleet and will be located at the recycling park in Preston on daily operations.
Renault said the vehicles were a result of a project where the two worked together to co-design a bespoke, electric skip loader vehicle.
A successful trial of a 16-tonne Renault Trucks D Z.E demonstrator in July helped Recycling Lives come to a decision to purchase the two 18-tonners.

Recycling Lives chief executive Gerry Marshall (pictured right with Renault Trucks MD Carlos Rodriguez), said: “These vehicles are an industry first, and they’ll be a standard element of our fleet over time.
“The vehicles have been specifically designed for us to deliver optimum operational efficiencies and it was critical for us that we partner with an international organisation that matches our values and our ambitions.”
Supplied on a seven-year contract hire deal, the 3,900mm wheelbase vehicles are specified with four 66 kWh battery packs giving an operating range on a single charge of up to 150km throughout its operation.
The deal was announced at Freight in the City Expo at Alexandra Palace this week.
