Prolog administrators save 130 jobs after selling Sherwood-based operation to Cotton Traders

Administrators working for warehouse and distribution firm Prolog said they had saved 130 jobs after selling off part of the business to clothing retailer Cotton Traders.

Promotional Logistics, which traded as Prolog, entered administration in November 2018 following the withdrawal of financial support by a group company.

A spokesman for administrator Mazars said Prolog operated five sites around the country and ran them like fulfilment centres, each for a specific client.

It employed more than 600 staff, of which around 330 positions were saved when Mazars sold a number of its sites in a management buyout.

And now it has secured a deal with Prolog’s fulfilment partner Cotton Traders for it to purchase and bring in-house the warehouse operation on the Sherwood Business Park being used for its stock.

The deal involves migrating IT systems, transferring 130 warehouse staff under TUPE regulations and agreeing a long-term lease with the landlord of the unit previously operated by Prolog.

Rebecca Dacre, Mazars director, said: “Throughout this process Prolog’s employees and clients have been resilient and supportive in what has been a difficult and uncertain time.

“It is to their credit that, during administration, there has been minimal disruption to customers.

“Thanks to the efforts of all parties, the future of the Sherwood Park facility is secure, along with 130 jobs”.

The Mazars spokesman added that two further sites operated by Prolog had closed down, with the loss of around 160 jobs.
