Leicester-based Premier Logistics has extended its coverage within the Pall-Ex pallet network, following its purchase of the business and assets of Cobley Transport (Reading) last year.
At the time of the acquisition, following the administration of Cobley Transport (Reading), Premier took on the former Palletways member's RG postcode too, a move that saw it effectively dual-running in two networks.
However, Martin Field, group finance director at Pall-Ex, confirmed the haulier's exit from Palletways, and said: "Premier Logistics has been a long-standing and valued member of the network.
"We are pleased that our working relationship is continuing with the company and that Premier Logistics is now taking on a bigger role in the network, covering the RG postcode from the start of 2014."
Motorotransport.co.uk understands Premier is also covering some of the SP and SO postcodes for Pall-Ex (as well as NN and NG).
However it is no longer handling the St Albans area, which it had done initially having taken on the site of collapsed St Albans business Bill Chippington Haulage last year. It continues to cover the whole of the Leicester postocode.
A spokesperson for Palletways said: "We are pleased to confirm that services to the RG postcodes will now be provided by Frederick Miller and Palletways Oxford, who will undertake all collections and deliveries previously carried out by Premier Logistics.
"This was a planned strategic move to provide greater efficiency in this area, and ensured a seamless continuation of service to all customers during the transition phase."
