Pall-Ex is set to buy Fortec in a move which will see a major consolidation of the pallet network sector.
Fortec’s 70-plus member hauliers were briefed about the deal last week, motortransport.co.uk has learnt.
The sale has been driven by the exit of Geodis, Fortec’s parent company, from the UK market.
Once completed, it will create the largest pallet network in the UK with 168 member hauliers.

Following the acquisition, Pall-Ex plans to operate Fortec as a separate legal entity, sources said.
Pall-Ex will also retain Fortec’s staff and management team, led by MD Adrian Bradley.
During the briefing last week, Fortec members were also offered the opportunity to become Pall-Ex shareholder members under the deal.
Pall-Ex and Fortec declined to comment.
