Norbert Dentressangle (ND) has won a new contract with catering company Blue Seal, part of New Zealand-based Moffat Group, a global supplier of commercial baking, cooking and warewashing equipment.
With the majority of machines manufactured in New Zealand, goods are imported directly into Blue Seal’s Birmingham hub, where they are collected by ND’s Specialist Services division for onward distribution to UK foodservice companies.
Operating from six UK sites, the ND Specialist Services team provides a next-day distribution service using its fleet of 18-tonne rigids, which are fitted with tail-lifts, securing restraints and dedicated materials handling equipment, to ensure reductions in damage levels.
Between 5,000 and 8,000 items will be distributed every year, with the majority of consignments being single-person deliveries to trade dealers and users, including restaurants, pubs and commercial kitchens.
Glenn Danks, UK manager at Blue Seal, said: “With its catering sector expertise, Norbert Dentressangle is the ideal partner to provide an enhanced delivery service for our customers. The flexible supply chain solution is supported with clear communication, careful handling that minimises product damage, and a central customer service team.”
ND is providing a number of additional services for Blue Seal, including communication by delivery crews to end customers and final product positioning, along with the options of an unpacking and removal of waste packaging service, the capability to take and view real-time pictures at the delivery point, and site surveys when required.
This latest deal follows the securing of a three-year storage and distribution contract with pesticides firm Makhteshim-Agan (MAUK) in January, which sees ND handling incoming products, the provision of bonded storage at its Top Tier COMAH facility at Amber Park, near Mansfield, and the onward distribution of customer orders the next day via its packed chemicals ADR fleet.
