Menzies Distribution has put in its largest ever order of vehicles, with more than 600 MAN tractors, curtainsiders, VW Crafters and box trailers due to be delivered by February.
It said the assets will accommodate substantial existing and new business from its clients.
The order includes 173 MAN TG3 tractor units, 150 curtainside trailers, 150 VW Crafters and 18 rigids spanning 18 tonne and 26 tonnes, as well as 10 tri-axle box trailers.
Menzies said it was also accelerating its electric vehicle strategy with a 12-month trial of a pre-production, all-electric Ford Transit van, which it has identified as suitable for newstrade, express and parcel operations.
