Menzies Distribution has bought Scottish parcels carrier Oban Express to boost its service offering in remote locations.
Oban Express operates depots in Oban and Glasgow, and runs 45 vehicles compared with Menzies' 240-strong fleet.
Menzies Distribution MD Forsyth Black said the acquisition would make it easier “for customers in Western Scotland and the Hebrides to order online and get their goods quickly at a reasonable cost”.
He added: “This is a model we’ve used successfully for newspaper distribution across Scotland, and now we can do it for mail order and e-commerce too.”
The board of directors will be unchanged at Oban Express, and Menzies said they would play a “crucial role” in the integration process.
It follows Menzies’ acquisition of Inverness carrier APG Parcels earlier this year.
