Asda Scania and Cartwright trailer (3)

Asda has ordered 60 double deck curtainsiders and 10 double deck box vans from Cartwright.

It comes after an order of 147 double deck curtainsiders delivered to the supermarket group via Cartwright in time for Christmas 2016.

The new trailers feature a hydraulic moving deck system and can accommodate a contribution of pallets and cages carrying ambient produce.

Jon Wilcock, regional sales director at Cartwright, said: “Both engineering teams have worked very closely to further develop and improve the tailored design that has evolved from the previous major orders from Asda.

“We are delighted that we have not only created a bespoke trailer for Asda, but have significantly evolved the product so as to meet their operational requirements.”

Peter Hey, procurement manager, national fleets for Asda, said: “Safety and compliance are high priorities for Asda on all our trailers, and our major aim for this and the previous order, was to comply with ENXL [load security] standard.

“There were challenges in bringing a trailer of this type up to ENXL standard but the evolution of the design from Cartwright overcame any obstacles resulting in improvements on our previous trailers.”

Cartwright Fleet Services completed a three month long re-work programme last year converting 236 older trailers to the ENXL standard too.
