Norbert Dentressangle will cease providing warehousing and distribution services to collapsed retail chain Comet from tomorrow (21 December).
Last month the operator warned its five-year £100m contract with Comet, which it only signed earlier this year, was in the hands of the retail chain’s administrator Deloitte.
At the start of this week Deloitte closed the last of the retail chain’s stores in the absence of an acceptable offer for the whole business.
Richard Cawston, business unit director at Norbert Dentressangle, said: “We have been informed by the administrator that our services will not be required after Friday 21 December and all activities on behalf of Comet will therefore cease on this date.”
Statement of affairs
Deloitte’s newly published statement of affairs for Comet has revealed that road transport companies were owed in excess of £333,000 at the date of its appointment as administrator on the 2 November, with little chance of recovery.
The larger creditors include Yodel, which was owed £132,015 and Wincanton – the firm’s previous warehousing and transport partner – which was owed £87,865. TNT was owed £57,552 and DPD was a creditor to the tune of £54,265. M&H Carriers (Inverness) and M&H Logistics, which are part of the same group, were owed £63,615.
The statement also set out that Comet has a deficiency in regards non-preferential creditors of £257m.
