Condor Logistics has appointed 10 new staff members as well as taking delivery of seven new vehicles across the Iveco range as it looks to adapt to an increase of 120 consignments per day since it joined the Palletways last year.
The Portsmouth-based operator expects this number to rise to 200 consignments by the end of the year and has invested in rigids ranging between 18 and 26 tonnes to assist with local distribution.
“We have ambitious plans to grow and despite the tough economic climate we are continuing to invest in the company,” said Gary Thurlow, operations director at Condor Logistics.
In the last six months the firm has invested in new equipment across all of its operations, including vehicles, trailers, fork lift trucks, warehouse racking and a new IT system.
Thurlow said that it will continue its expansion into next year by purchasing more vehicles.
“Condor Logistics has achieved a lot so far this year and has put a lot of investment into becoming part of the network,” said Andy Turner, managing director for Palletways Owned Operations. “They are a real asset to Palletways and we know that that they will continue to go from strength to strength.”
Condor Logistics joined the pallet network last November, previously covering the Channel Islands for UK Pallets, and has now taken on postcodes PO6 to PO11 and PO18 to PO22 for Palletways.
The company has an O-licence to run 45 vehicles and 300 trailers and employs over 175 people across its offices in Jersey, Guernsey, Solihull, Portsmouth and St Malo in France.
Thurlow said: “We are committed to continue our investment into next year through the purchase of more vehicles and hope the investment signals our commitment to expanding the company and achieve more growth.”
