Clipper Logistics has won an e-fulfilment contract with women’s exercise clothing company Vevie, following the launch of its online sales site vevie.com. The deal will see the logistics giant handling all inbound freight from vendors and suppliers, order fulfilment and home deliveries for Vevie’s customers across the UK and globally using a network of courier partners. UK Mail Group reveals satisfactory Q1 results

UK Mail Group has made a “satisfactory” start to its financial year, with revenue up by 13% compared with the same period last year, or by 10% if excluding Royal Mail price hikes implemented on 2 April. Iveco Ecostralis joins Stobart fleet

Stobart Group has taken delivery of two Iveco Ecostralis units as part of a three-year trial. The vehicles’ performance will be monitored in upcoming months as the pair operate from its depot in Carlisle. The trucks, named Sophie and Lynda Dawn, are expecting to remain in the fleet for three years running some 160,000km a year. CollectPlus launches Meadowhall Parcel Point site

CollectPlus is opening a Parcel Point operation at the Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield, enabling customers to drop-off packages and collect online purchases while shopping. Viridor pays £7.6m for recycling business JWT Holdings

Viridor Waste Management has acquired JWT Holdings, a waste collection and recycling business based in Atherton, Greater Manchester, from John William Thomasson for £7.6m. JWT Holdings employs 45 staff and handles around 70,000 tonnes of material a year. Northamptonshire-based Knights of Old has taken delivery of two new Palletforce-branded longer semi-trailers. Both are already in action – one based at its Kettering headquarters and the other at its Hitchin site. CitySprint has purchased the same-day operations of Thames Valley-based Scarlet Couriers. The deal sees CitySprint acquire Scarlet Courier’s same-day, overnight and international operations in Bracknell, as well as the company’s same-day courier operation in Slough. Wincanton has won a contract with Kiddicare to handle the fulfilment of the retailer’s new superstores, including its new flagship Peterborough store. DPD warns retailers to be Olympics savvy

DPD is urging retailers to talk to their delivery companies about the potential disruption threatened by the Olympics later this month. The parcels giant is concerned that many retailers are still underestimating the extent of the upheaval the Games could create during peak times.
