Whistl has expanded its subsidiary Parcelhub service into the West Midlands with the opening of a new depot in Smethwick, near West Bromwich.

The 14,000sq ft facility is designed to offer SMEs and mid-market online retailers a regional and more personalised service.

Whistl added that 14 jobs had been created with the opening of the depot, including drivers and warehouse operators, but that more opportunities were expected in the future.

Customers will be served by Parcelhub’s electric van fleet with electric charging infrastructure installed into the depot.

Parcelhub now covers the East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire, East London and Essex and the new depot will support businesses in Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Alistair Cochrane, Whistl CEO, said: “Due to the demand from customers in the West Midlands for our localised Parcelhub service, we are pleased to open the new 14,000sq ft depot in Smethwick.

“We will be serving the area with our new electric vans which will further enhance our ability to help customers meet their sustainability targets.”
