Nigel Beckett

DAF Trucks has undergone a major management reshuffle and launched an electric vehicle (EV) sales and service department to support its transition to low and zero emission vehicles.

The management restructuring has seen business planning director Nigel Beckett, who joined DAF Trucks in 2005, appointed UK parts sales and marketing director, following the retirement of Trevor Mitchell.

DAF Trucks dealer sales director Gareth Halliwell takes over the role of business planning director. Halliwell began his career with PACCAR Financial, DAF Trucks’ in-house finance division, in 2007 before moving to truck sales in 2012.

Adam Russell, who joined DAF Trucks in 2008 in the parts and fleet sales department, before his most recent role as business services manager, will replace Halliwell as UK dealer sales director.

The OEM has also launched an electric vehicle sales and service department. Announcing the new department, DAF Trucks said: “The transition to low and zero-emission vehicles is likely to be the most significant strategic challenge for DAF Trucks, and the wider commercial vehicle industry during the next decade.

“To meet this challenge, Adam Bennett has been appointed to head-up a new, dedicated electric vehicle sales and service function based at DAF Trucks’ UK headquarters in Haddenham.”

Bennett takes on the newly-created position of EV sustainability manager following what DAF Trucks described as his “excellent work” in supporting the introduction of DAF Trucks’ zero-emission DAF LF Electric and CF Electric products to the UK market.

Bennett, who joined DAF Trucks in 2019 as parts regional sales manager, has also played an instrumental part in DAF Trucks’ role in the Battery Electric Truck Trial currently being rolled-out by the UK government. He will report to Gareth Halliwell.

Bennett will be supported by the Amy Carter, the newly appointed EV operations manager.

Carter has been a technical trainer for DAF Trucks since 2018, recently specialising in EVs.

She has worked in a number of roles in the automotive industry and boasts Six Sigma certification.
