Consumer delivery company Evri, formerly known as Hermes, has pledged over £150,000 of its apprenticeship levy funds to help SMEs take on new apprentices or upskill existing ones.
Last year the company supported over 19 employers and 23 learners across a range of sectors.
Evri is working closely with West Midlands Combined Authority and Total People, a provider of apprenticeships and work-based learning in the North-West of England, to help identify suitable companies.
The donation is part of a government scheme which allows large employers, such as Evri, that pay the apprenticeship levy, to choose to transfer up to 25% of their levy funds each year to other businesses, to pay for their apprenticeship training and assessment.

Companies can choose to transfer the levy funds to specific sectors across England or for apprenticeships in their local area or to support apprenticeships in a particular town or city.
