Tanker drivers working for fuel supplier North Air are celebrating after their union secured a 9% pay increase for them, as well as a 9% increase in shift allowances.

Unite said the deal meant drivers supplying fuel to Glasgow airport would see their total annual income go up by around £3,159.

North Air provides refuelling services for domestic and international airlines who fly into and out of the Scottish airport.

This latest deal follows a string of successes by Unite in the aviation industry with the pay of over 800 workers at Glasgow airport being boosted over the last few months.

It includes increases at ABM, OCS Group, Loganair and Menzies Aviation.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is how this union responds to the cost of living crisis.

“Glasgow airport is a success story for Unite; we are delivering serious pay for our members.”

Regional industrial officer Pat McIlvogue added: “Pay wins like this help to attract and retain tanker drivers to the industry.”
