Teletrac Navman has launched Smart Dashcams, which relies on AI video technology to deliver tailored training programmes aimed at improving behaviours behind the wheel.
The system reviews drive time through forward and driver-facing cameras and can learn ‘on the job’, allowing training to be continually fine-tuned as driver skills increase.
Teletrac said the driver can access Smart Dashcams via a mobile app where actions and coaching events can be viewed.
It can also notify drivers of potentially dangerous situations, for example alerting them if they appear distracted behind the wheel.

The company said its product is designed to empower transport managers to develop fleet safety programs proactively; deliver highly tailored training programmes, as well as build driver trust.
Peter Millichap, marketing director at Teletrac Navman, said: “AI-powered video technology removes the guesswork and manual processes for operators and promotes transparency and trust in commercial drivers.
“Findings from the latest department for transport report showed that there were 19,152 road accidents in the UK in 2020, supporting the importance of promoting a positive safety culture within fleets.”
