British electric and hydrogen truck manufacturer Tevva Trucks has chosen Loop Energy’s fuel cell system for Tevva’s 7.5-tonne electric truck platform.

The Canadian firm won the contract to supply its T505 (50 kW) Series fuel cell system after tests by Tevva Trucks showed the system outperformed those of rival bidders on fuel efficiency, reliability and its ability to seamlessly integrate with Tevva’s fuel cell range extender for its 7.5-tonne truck platform.

The truck is designed to provide operators with up to 500km of all-season service range.

Tevva founder and chief executive, Asher Bennett, said: “By combining Loop Energy’s hydrogen fuel cell with our 7.5-tonne battery electric truck platform, Tevva is taking an exciting step towards delivering our zero-emission range-extended trucks.
