Larkhall - New Depot 3

Online electricals retailer AO has created eight new warehousing jobs in South Lanarkshire after relocating from its depot at Canderside Toll Distribution Centre to a larger site on Strutherhill Industrial Estate.

The company said the move to the new 20,000sq ft site is a result of the shift to online shopping during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has seen AO’s online appliance sales boom.

Over the past two years, AO has increased its warehousing capacity by over 80%, grown its distribution network and created over 1,000 logistics jobs across the business.

The new site has created eight new roles with the company promising more job opportunities for delivery driver crews in the future.

AO’s nationwide network of depots is supplied by its main distribution centres in Crewe, Stafford and Stoke, which enables the company to be no more than one hour away from customers.

David Ashwell, AO Logistics MD, said: “I’m so pleased that we’re able to invest in Larkhall and move to a bigger site in the area - the rapid expansion of AO Logistics is really a testament to the hard work of our people.

“The new depot is in an ideal location to support our future growth as a business – we’ll be able to serve our customers in South Lanarkshire even better than before and it means we’re securing the best infrastructure for the future.”

AO acquired the two-person delivery company, formerly Expert Logistics, in 2009 and now offers next day delivery to every UK postcode seven days a week on its range of 12,000 electrical products.
