Leyland-based car transporter Alto Distribution has purchased family-owned E. Massey (Transport) in a bid to diversify into a new sector.
The Warrington haulier provides road haulage, warehousing and vehicle servicing and was founded by the Massey family more than 40 years ago.
It holds an operator licence in the north west for 14 HGVs and 24 trailers.
Alto Distribution – part of the Alto Automotive Group – said E Massey’s name and staff will all be retained.
Andrew Grayston, Alto Distribution MD, said he intended to invest significantly in the company and accelerate future growth: “This is an excellent opportunity to diversify into a new industry sector, different to the automotive sector, whilst at the same time giving us a first rate maintenance facility within the group which will look after the existing fleet customers as well as the transporter fleet,” he said.
“E Massey Transport has been a successful business for many years over two generations and the intention is to build on this success with investment in systems, fleet and training.”
E. Massey’s shareholders were advised on the sale by MHA Moore and Smalley, which acted as lead advisors, identifying the purchaser and providing transaction support services to manage the transaction through to completion.
