XPO Logistics has completed its spin-off of GXO Logistics, creating two independent companies. The division sees XPO continue as a provider of freight transportation services, less-than-truckload transportation and truck brokerage services, whilst GXO will become what XPO claims is “the largest pure-play contract logistics provider in the world”. Salford Van Hire has become the first operator in the UK to run a fleet of Schmitz Cargobull’s new SKO Pace Smart semi-trailers.
XPO Logistics’ graduate and apprenticeship programmes have their origin in Europe and in the UK. The scheme was originally introduced 25 years ago in the UK, and it boasts a famous graduate – Carol Vorderman, the maths genius who progressed from running a pea processing and packing unit in Lowestoft to TV stardom on Countdown.
