Pall-Ex is purchasing more than 500 mobile and vehicle-mounted computerised scanners from Honeywell, via The Barcode Warehouse.
This latest investment supports the group’s NexusScan project which will deliver a new hub scanning application to the business as part of a wider launch of the group’s Nexus Core operational system.
The Leicester-based pallet network will also receive Honeywell’s Edge services, which offers help with device deployment, a spare pool of devices, rentals and a 24/7 help desk.
Nexus, which was built by an in-house team of developers at Pall-Ex, has been rolled out to all Pall-Ex UK members with plans in train to extend the system to Fortec members and international partners.
The network said this week that the equipment supplied by Honeywell will help boost Pall-Ex’s ability to process the record volumes it has seen since the onset of Covid-19.

Pall-Ex Group’s chief technology officer Dave Dunhill, who has led the group’s development of Nexus, said the IT team had worked closely with The Barcode Warehouse, to assess the options.
He added: “Key stakeholders were fundamental to the process, which took in excess of six months. The result of this has seen Honeywell selected to supply hardware for the NexusScan hub scanning project which will aid the delivery of the next module of the Nexus project.
