A “mob of immigrants” in Calais attacked a vehicle belonging to haulage and truck sales firm EM Rogers in the early hours of Friday (14 May), causing extensive damage.

According to Shaun Boyson, EM Rogers commercial vehicle sales manager, the group of immigrants threw concrete blocks at the vehicle and attacked it with iron bars after blocking the road.

He said the driver was unharmed, but added: “Although we can repair vehicles it was a somewhat distressing experience for the driver.”

Last week, Logistics UK criticised plans to fine hauliers and drivers £2,000 per stowaway found in vehicles, regardless of the security measures they had taken.
