The UK’s oldest Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer has marked its 50th anniversary by opening a truck-dedicated workshop in Derby.

Mertrux Truck & Van’s new £2m premises on the West Meadows industrial estate has seven truck bays - two with pits – column lifts, brake roller testers and a large area of hardstanding in front of the building on which to manoeuvre and park tractor-and-trailer combinations.

The dealer’s existing maintenance facility on the same site is now being used to service and repair lighter vehicles and both new and old premises are open until midnight on weekdays, with a return to 24-hour operation on the cards as Covid restrictions are lifted.

Andrew Kerrane (pictured), dealer principal, said: “Coming as it does in the year of our golden anniversary, this latest investment represents another important milestone for Mertrux.”

Mertrux Truck & Van has represented Mercedes-Benz in the East Midlands since 1971.
