Pressure is mounting on the DfT and Treasury to ringfence the money raised by the HGV Road User Levy for the benefit of the road transport sector. International hauliers are being “strongly encouraged” by the DfT to ensure their HGV drivers are tested for Covid-19 before travelling to France, warning that those drivers arriving in Kent without a test will face delays.
