MV Commercial has secured a deal for 100 new specialist cranes as part of a multi-million-pound deal with Hiab UK and Ireland.

The deal, worth more than £5m, is for a mix of light, medium and heavy-duty loader cranes and sees MV Commercial taking delivery of the new units throughout 2021 and 2022.

All 100 cranes will also be equipped with Hiab’s HiConnect telematics system, with 60% of the order contracted to be installed at Hiab’s UK installation sites.

MV Commercial said the new contract strengthens its long-standing relationship with Hiab and indicates a growing hire market demand for high specification truck-mounted cranes, as businesses begin to recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Brexit transition.

Steven Cairns, MV Commercial MD, said: "This deal is testament to the excellent working relationship we have with the team at Hiab.

“MV Commercial has one of the UK’s best fleets of ready-to-go specialist crane units with annual specialist truck supply in the hundreds of units, so it is vital for our business model that we maintain a good level of high-quality equipment ready to meet our customers’ needs.

“This deal will grow our industry-leading position and expand our fleet with high-quality equipment.”

He added: "Partnering with Hiab allows us to offer our customers top-end premium equipment that we can all rely on, and the service support packages give our customers extra peace of mind wherever they are in the UK.”

Ian Mitchell, Hiab UK and Ireland sales and services director, added: "Working closely with MV Commercial to develop a strategic partnership has been instrumental in our UK-wide growth plans.

“I expect there will be greater interest in the rental sector for truck-mounted cranes, as businesses recover from the impact of Covid-19 and Brexit, so we’re proud to be partnering with one of the UK’s leading leasing companies to give businesses greater choice.”

Scotland-based MV Commercial is one of the largest suppliers of crane trucks in the UK. Last year the 20-year-old business was named Commercial Motor’s Independent Dealer of the Year.
